Independent Vehicle Inspections for Insurers
On-site, independent inspections that determine whether a mechanical fault is impact related, with a determination on the day.
The problem
A policyholder has an accident. The car is repaired. Weeks later a mechanical fault appears, and the policyholder says the accident caused it. The insurer needs an answer to one question: is the fault impact related, and is the insurer required to repair it?
Getting that answer today is slow and expensive, and it often makes the dispute worse.
Where it goes wrong
- The car has to move. It is towed to a repairer to be assessed, then often towed again. Every move is a cost, and the car can sit in storage while it waits.
- The report takes weeks. The vehicle waits in a workshop queue. The policyholder waits without a car and without an answer.
- The assessment is rushed. Assessors work through a basic checklist. Anything outside it goes in the too-hard basket, so the report doesn’t settle the question.
- Nobody explains the outcome. The policyholder receives a finding with no walk-through. It reads as the insurer’s side of the story, so they don’t accept it.
- The complaint escalates. Internal dispute resolution, then AFCA. More case work, more fees, more time.
What it costs
By the time a disputed claim reaches AFCA, towing, storage, weeks of case management and AFCA fees can easily pass $20,000, often before anyone has a clear answer on the vehicle. On top of the cost is the complaint itself, and a policyholder who has lost trust in their insurer.
Most of that cost comes from how late in the process an independent, properly explained inspection happens.
Our solution
Break Check brings the inspection to the vehicle at the start of the dispute, not the end.
- We go to the car. At home, at work or at the repairer, across Sydney metro. No towing and no storage.
- A determination on the day. We inspect on site and give our determination there and then. No three-week wait for a report.
- A proper inspection. Our 98-point standard and a full diagnostic scan, not a tick-box checklist. Every finding is photographed and recorded.
- Independent. We report what we find. The finding stands on the evidence, whichever way it goes.
- The policyholder is walked through it. We explain the outcome in plain English, at the car, with the evidence in front of them. A finding people understand is a finding they accept.
- A report you can rely on. A branded PDF with photos, findings and a clear impact-related determination, ready for your file or for AFCA.
Refer early, spend less
The earlier we are involved, the more we save. Referred at the first complaint, one on-site inspection and a clear, explained determination can resolve the dispute before it reaches internal dispute resolution or AFCA. Referred late, we can still give you independent, documented evidence on the question that matters.
How it works
- Referral. Send us the claim details, the policyholder’s contact and where the vehicle is.
- We book it in. We contact the policyholder and arrange a time at the vehicle.
- Inspection. 98-point inspection and diagnostic scan, with every finding photographed.
- Determination on the spot. Impact related or not, explained to the policyholder at the car.
- Report. Your branded photo report and determination, sent to you.
